The Body

There are such poetic planetary placements in the cosmos this month that are synergistic to Venusian energy. Our bodies, the material world, love, beauty, are all supported here in such a joyous and expansive way.

Standing here nearly a decade later into my journey in the healing arts, I have in my heart grief and sadness, hand-in-hand with a deep sense of wonder and amazement for our bodies.

The body is so wise, yet somehow in the hierarchy of mind-body-soul it comes through as just a dense vessel. Lost in translation is the deep wisdom that holds the key to profound and sustainable healing. To truly moving on from repeating patterns of self-destruction and self-sabotage, wherever they may come from. Coming back into the body is in fact the pinnacle of spirituality, and as we walk this path we cross through a doorway to true inner peace. The body is wise, it holds onto trauma till we are ready to process it. It expresses itself through disease when we don’t allow ourselves to express what we hide from. I grieve for my body, so misunderstood that even when she was here to show me the truth I could not listen. I grieve for my body, so wise that she took on this trauma my mind and soul could not bear and held on to it till I was ready to feel again. Till I was resourced with the right tools and support that she knew I could finally let go. Thank you, body, for everything you do for me. Thank you, body, for being the vessel to carry me into the most spiritual journey of my life. Thank you, body, for being the magical container in which I hold space for others. In which I created love like no other, within which I created my child. Thank you, body, for holding on to my connection to my family system in every cell you host within you.

The same way talk therapy encourages disembodiment through hyper-intellectualization, spirituality and religion can sometimes do as much damage, by focusing so much on the soul that it bypasses the body. Spiritual escapism, as it is sometimes referred to.

The process of embodiment is the process of reexperiencing pain that we shut out. It can be chaotic and arduous. And if you are someone who spent years telling yourself “Mind over Matter” it can feel a little unhinged at times. Self-doubt creeps in. Am I making this up? Am I exaggerating this experience? Why does it feel like I’m free-falling off a cliff into the abyss? It can be scary. It can flood your whole system with emotions you’ve spent years building a dam around. Fear, guilt, rage. This is where Somatic Experiencing comes in. It’s not about moving slowly, it’s about moving at a supported, consistent pace. It’s about moving at pace where the nervous system is gently rewired to support expansion, peace and joy as a new baseline.

A Guide to Family Constellations Sessions

Are you intrigued by the concept of Family Constellations Therapy but unsure of what to expect during a session? Family Constellations is an experiential form of therapy that involves active participation- a far cry from what we know conventional therapy to look like! Allow us to shed light on this transformative process and how it unfolds within our practice.

Setting the Stage

Before diving into the session, we begin with a guided meditation to center ourselves. I helps create a safe and sacred space where clients feel comfortable exploring their family dynamics. This environment fosters trust and openness, essential for the healing journey ahead.

Introduction and Intention Setting

We begin by introducing clients to the principles of Family Constellations Therapy and outlining the goals for the session. Clients are encouraged to set their intentions, focusing on the specific issues or challenges they wish to address. For best outcomes with Family Constellations its recommended to focus on identifying holding patterns within your life- your relationship with food, money, your career, sex, love and relationships. This often traces back to a root cause within family dynamics that we will bring to light within the session.

Setting Up the Constellation

The facilitator guides the client in choosing representatives and arranging the them within the space, creating a visual representation of the family system and the represented dynamics. This setup often reveals hidden patterns and entanglements that may be contributing to the client's challenges.

Exploration and Insights

As the constellation unfolds, clients observe the interactions between representatives and gain insights into the underlying dynamics at play. This experiential process often uncovers unresolved traumas, loyalties, and systemic issues within the family system.

Resolution and Healing

Through guided interventions and systemic movements, clients have the opportunity to address and resolve the issues uncovered during the constellation. This may involve acknowledging and honoring past traumas, expressing unspoken truths, and releasing burdens that no longer serve them.

Integration and Reflection

Following the constellation, clients are invited to reflect on their experience and integrate the insights gained into their lives. This may involve identifying actionable steps for healing and setting intentions for the future.

Follow-Up and Support

Post-session support is provided as part of the therapy to help with integration. We also offer ongoing support to clients as they navigate their healing journey. This may include additional sessions, resources for self-reflection, and referrals to other healing modalities as needed.

Conclusion

Family Constellations Therapy offers a profound opportunity for healing and transformation, providing insights into the complexities of familial relationships and empowering clients to break free from inherited patterns. If you're ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing, we invite you to experience the transformative power of Family Constellations Therapy at our practice.

Family Constellations NYC: Surrender to Love

Family Constellations NYC

Join me for our second in-person Family Constellations Workshop for 2024. “Surrender to Love” is our collective theme for February. If you know me at all, you know I love Valentine’s Day.

It is a day to celebrate Love, platonic or romantic. The love for our bodies and all our senses, nature, the love for self, the love for our children. The love for the Universe and the interconnectedness in which we exist.

One of my greatest teachers, Dr Brian Weiss published a book called “Only Love is Real”. Once we open ourselves up to this state of existence we resonate it through every cell of our being and become magnetic. We transform on every level into the person we want to become, we attract the right people, job, money, the life of our dreams. When this shift happens, you see that Love is much more than Twin Flames, passionate sex, flowers and chocolates and fancy dinners. Romantic love can and should absolutely be whatever version of a fairytale that resonates with you, but it may not be sustainable or fulfilling without the embodiment of this state of existence within ourselves.

Love is the highest energetic state in which we can exist.

The overarching theme in Family Constellations is Love in its purest form. I am humbled every time I step into the field to facilitate for you and bear witness to this unconditional love your soul naturally embodies within the field. It leads us to merge and bond with our family through suffering, trauma, illness, death and beyond on such a deeply subconscious level, We can go through our entire lives not understanding these holding patterns we are stuck in.

In this workshop, we will honor this love by bringing it to Light, and creating a resolution where we see self-sabotage. So you may go forth and love and belong to your family in a conscious way that also honors the sovereignty of your soul, creating space for you to truly walk your own path toward the life of your dreams. Come with me to dive into the abyss, surrender to love to resurface with a greater perspective and understanding.

I hope to see you at this workshop. Tickets can be found here. Please watch the linked Youtube Video on the ticketing page to understand the ticket tiers and feel free to reach out to me if you have questions.

Somatics and the Breath

Somatics and the Breath

When you think somatics you often think moving the body. Slow, gentle, controlled movements that when performed consistently help regulate the nervous system over time.

But one branch of somatics; somatic breathwork is incredibly effective at quickly bringing stress and anxiety down in the moment. The human respiratory system is one of the most harmonizing, integrating systems we have within us to help self-regulate. On a surface level, somatic breathwork offers temporary relief in a stressful situation, its widely known that Navy Seals use a form of breathwork to help in active combat because it shifts us from sympathetic activation (fight/flight/freeze/fawn) to parasympathetic activation (calm, rest, digest). Many of these breathwork techniques are based on ancient ayurvedic and yogic practices.

The most simple form of Somatic Breathwork is Box Breathing. Follow the steps below to engage your parasympathetic nervous system to help calm yourself down in stressful situations.

  1. Set a timer for 3 minutes.

  2. Inhale through your nose to a count of 4, filling your lungs up completely.

  3. Hold your breath to a count of 4.

  4. Exhale, audibly through your mouth to a count of 4, completely emptying your lungs.

  5. Repeat steps 2-4 to the end of the 3 minutes.

Another somatic breathing exercise to help engage the nervous system is called Tactical Breathing, or 4-7-8

  1. Place your hand on your abdomen and exhale, completely emptying your lungs. A good starting point is to begin the inhale count when your lungs are completely empty and the body’s natural response is to inhale.

  2. Inhale to the count of 4 through your nose, filling your lungs completely.

  3. Hold your breath to the count of 7.

  4. Exhale audibly through your mouth, to the count of 8.

  5. Repeat for 3-6 cycles. Feel your hand rise and fall on your abdomen as you inhale and exhale.

Somatic Breathwork is such a simple and effective way to begin to reset your nervous system and to move out of a state of nervous system dysregulation. Many of us have been suppressing our emotions and overloading your nervous system, appearing well-adjusted and calm on the outside while utter chaos or complete numbness is taking over inside. Self-regulation is learning to feel your emotions completely and giving yourself space to have appropriate, communicative responses to stimulus. It is being able to feel everything and respond and then returning to equilibrium.

Join me at my next workshop or work 1:1 with me to delve into the trauma loops you are stuck in and learn to create new neural pathways so you may walk unburdened through life!

What is Systemic Constellations Therapy and Family Constellations Therapy?

What is Systemic Constellations and Family Constellation Therapy

Systemic and Family Constellations Therapy is a form of healing that originated from the Zulu tribe of South Africa. The Zulus regarded their connection to their ancestors as a focal point of their belief system and way of life. This connection created a platform within which profound healing and transformation could occur. Restoring the flow of love within our lineage opens us up to inheriting gifts and talents from our ancestors, negating the need to connect in more destructive ways, namely generational trauma and cycles of repeating patterns within our lives and family systems. Restoring the order of love paves the way for us to walk our own path, in honor of those who came before us.

Bert Hellinger who is arguably the most notable practitioner of Systemic Constellations and Family Constellations Therapy, was a Catholic Priest of German origin who lived in South Africa for 16 years, sent there as a missionary to the Zulus. In his time there, he found himself immersed in the language, culture and rituals of the Zulu. The profound experiences he had within the wisdom of the Zulu tribe helped him reconcile his own traumas and experiences he had lived through during WW2. According to Hellinger, a pivotal moment in the field is when he came to question “Of people and ideals, which do you value the most. Which would you sacrifice for the other?”.

This is the crux of my approach to constellation therapy; the reconciliation of opposing ideals within our lineage, but really at the core of it within ourselves. The soul speaks an entirely different language from the body and the intellectual mind, that is buried so deep within the subconscious that more often that not our minds have no awareness of the soul’s desire to bond and belong and create balance within our lineage- even when the conscious mind is working in the opposite direction. In a constellation we bring to light the underlying language of the soul and morphogenetic field we all belong to, and create a resolution that helps you unburden yourself of you doesn’t belong to you, so you may go on to walk your own path.

There isn’t an aspect of life that doesn’t tie back to this common thread of bonding and belonging, its embedded in our DNA. Birth, death and everything in between; our relationship with our parents, food, money, career, love, divorce.

Click here to connect if you are ready to see what the field has to show you about your system.
